This year we began work on a multi-year project to rejuvenate the gardens and plantings at the Hartford Public Library – Downtown branch. The plan resulted in the planting of over 800 plants in three beds with installation work completed by garden club and community members. The beds included a variety of perennial plants in the three beds, petunias (red, white and blue) were planted in the bed along Main Street in a banner pattern to celebrate our nation’s 250th birthday. Children’s programs included herbal tea parties in the summer and Friday Family Harvesting Days where families could take herb cuttings to propagate for home use. Two mobile beds were assembled and planted in the children’s section.
